Darrell L. Crapps is the Founder, Managing Director and Chairman of South Pointe Global, LLC (“SPG”) an operationally focused investment and advisory firm headquartered in Miami Beach, Florida. Under Mr. Crapps’ leadership, SPG invests in and advises companies delivering sustainable technical, operational, products and solutions that optimize growth, improve efficiencies and accelerate desired results for their government and commercial clients. Mr. Crapps has three decades of operating, executive and investment management experience leading companies to unprecedented growth while providing innovative technologies that solve complex problems in competitive and challenging market environments.
Mr. Crapps is also the Founder and Chairman of Ignite Innovation Technology Foundation (“I2T”), a 501(c) 3 organization dedicated to providing customized and sustainable educational, workforce and entrepreneurship training solutions designed to address the historic and systemic underrepresentation of women and minorities in the creation of emerging and advanced technologies. To date, Mr. Crapps, through I2T Foundation, has provided funding for several high-school educational and adult training programs that promote the participation of women and minorities in advanced technologies in the Southeast region of the US.
Prior to founding SPG and I2T Foundation, Mr. Crapps Co-Founded and served as Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at WC Holdings, Inc. and it’s wholly-owned subsidiary SENTEL Corporation (“SENTEL”). Under Mr. Crapps’ leadership SENTEL provided specialized engineering, information technology, intelligence support and logistics to diverse clients. Mr. Crapps led the executive management team, corporate strategy and was the chief architect of SENTEL’s growth from 2007-2014, when the company’s revenue grew by 150% along with significant and sustainable profitability. Mr. Crapps expanded the company’s technical solutions to support missions domestically and throughout Europe, the Middle East, South West Asia and South America. In addition to organic growth, Mr. Crapps has completed complex acquisitions and entered into difficult-to-acquire strategic partnerships supporting mission critical operations globally.
Mr. Crapps has a demonstrated track-record of building dynamic and highly effective corporate cultures. He has numerous awards for his visionary leadership and recognition for organizational effectiveness, acquisition strategies/execution, as well as successful transition/integration, divestitures, and spin-offs. Mr. Crapps has successfully recruited, hired and retained key executives, operators and while producing mission critical assets across multiple disciplines and in competitive and emerging markets. From 2004-2007, Mr. Crapps served as Executive Vice President at Dimensions International, Inc. where he played a prominent role in the development, execution, historical growth, and transformation of the logistics and engineering company. As a result of his efforts, company revenues grew from $40m to $180m, services offerings expanded to the Middle East and South West Asia and the company completed an acquisition, spin-off and sale of its subsidiary, Flight Explorer LLC, prior to its sale to Honeywell Technology Solutions, Inc.
Mr. Crapps is the co-inventor of US Patent 2006016432 – Method and apparatus for protecting personnel and critical assets from RF-triggered explosive devices using ultra-wide band transmission. His current Board memberships include, South Pointe Global, LLC, I2T Foundation, GreenLife Energy Solutions, LLC and St. Thomas University College of Law Board of Advisors. He has served on the Boards of WC Holdings, Inc, the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, Bonaventure Equity, LLC and the Northern Virginia Urban League and has been an active member of the Northern Virginia Technology Council and the National Defense Transportation Association. He is an enthusiastic mentor and advisor and is actively involved in several philanthropic endeavors. Mr. Crapps received his Juris Doctor from the Florida State University College of Law and is an honors graduate earning a B.A. in Management from Morehouse College.
